Defty skies a penalty for Soul Cal, and action from Storm v Bunker.

Last minute winner from Storm!
Thursday, 02 June 2011 18:01

Reports compiled by Kevin Cooper.

Wear Consulting 5 v Bunker UK 2
Gary Tyzack was in blistering form as he bagged 5 to record another convincing win. Bunker UK boosted by the appearance of Tommy Bell started brightly but were undone by a Tyzack solo effort! They immediately hit back with an easy tap in at the back post after some slack Wear defending. Tyzack struck again on the next attack only to find Bunker restoring parity immediately. The second half was a different story with Trevor Todd pulling the strings, Tyzack struck a fantastic second half hat rick to the sound of a Storm player saying he is just like 'Torres' that lad!

Soul Cal 2 v Redhouse Storm 1
Both teams battled it out in an end to end game with Soul eventually edging it by the odd goal. Soul took an early lead only for it to be cancelled out by the resurgent Storm, who have been a pleasure to watch in recent weeks. In the second half Soul had an early opportunity with a penalty, only to see it blazed over the bar! However, there pressure told in the end and the grab a second close to the final whistle ending Storms hopes of an equaliser. In the end a good win for Soul Cal.

Bunker UK 2 v Redhouse Storm 3
With Storm just completing a game and Bunker having a well earned rest after putting a lot in to the game against Wear, no one expected the pulsating game to follow. It was majority one sided with Bunker peppering the Storm goal. Bunkers No. 9 'Wardy' will be disappointed he didn't score a bag full missing chance after chance but he and Bunker were made to pay after twice taking the lead and being pegged back, Storm snatched a last minute winner to end Bunkers hopes of at least a draw. Bunker will feel disappointed as after dominating for large parts this is a game they should have won.

Wear keep dominating.

Reports compiled by Gary Tyzack

Soul Cal 3 Bunker UK 2
Bunker UK took an early lead with a well taken finish and look to go on a dominate but against the run of play a tight angled finish by Kyle Donaldson levelled the score.  Bunker UK immediately struck back taking a 2-1 lead into the break.  The 2nd half proved to be a different story as Soul Cal came out all guns blazing and grabbed to quick fire goals which effectively ended hopes of a Bunker UK victory.

Action from the Soul Cal - Wear Consulting game.
Wear Consulting 3 Soul Cal 1
Exchanges were even in the early stages but a defence splitting pass by Ashmore, found Tyzack in acres of space and with both defenders closing him down he crossed for an unmarked Mouat to slam the ball into an empty net.  Soul rallied but against the run of play a Tyzack shot to a deflection off Swinhoe which wrong footed the keeper and into the unguarded net.  In the 2nd half Tyzack scored his 2nd to put Wear 3-0 after a great passage of play and in the dying minutes Soul pulled one back, spurred on by the excellent Micky Donkin.

Action from Soul Cal v Bunker and Storm v Bunker.
Bunker UK 2 Redhouse Storm 1
After gaining a hard fought victory over Bunker UK last week, Storm looked to do the double over their rivals again this week but despite dominating for long spells Bunker UK struck two excellent goals to confirm victory after Storm has took a deserved lead.

Wear Consulting 6 Redhouse Storm 0
Storm lost for the 2nd time on the night after being beaten convincingly by a dominate Wear side.  Trevor Todd opened the scoring after the Storm Keeper saved well from Tyzack but from then on it was an onslaught with Andy Watson in the Wear Goal on being tested on one occasion.  Tyzack struck once just before the break but two excellent strikes just after half time put Wear 4-0 up and cruising.  Todd scored following a break from a Storm corner.
Cooper rang the changes taking off striker Gary Tyzack and Michael Ashmore to give Kemp and Young game time for run in.  With Tyzack off the field, Todd slotted in a late penalty after a Storm player was adjugded to have enter the penalty box making it 6-0 and game over.  Storm have improved dramatically over recent weeks and should take heart from this and have a good chance of climbing the league.

Soul Cal 3 Redhouse Storm 0.

Wear Consulting 3 BunkerUK 1.
Bunker struggled again with their third defeat against a strong Wear Consulting.

Redhouse Storm 3 BunkerUK 3.
However, they secured a 3-3 draw with Storm to give both teams the points.

Down to three teams - with Storm struggling.

Wear Consulting 4 BunkerUK 0.
Wear remained on their winning streak with a comprehensive win over Conor Staples' Bunker team. Bunker were due to play Storm, but the latter team struggled to produce six players worthy of the name.

Soul Cal 2 Wear Consulting 2.
Soul Cal stopped the Consulting bandwagon from rolling on by sharing the points. The League is continuing, but it might be in transistion with games continuously played until more teams join.

Season 17 starts off with a whimper.
Wednesday, 09 March 2011 21:18

Drop outs hamper the start.

Gary Tyzack and Kevin Cooper, are keeping the league going on a week-by-week basis, while the fixtures, etc. will still be handled by Davinder Sangha.

Wear Consulting 4 Soul Cal 0.
The opening game kicked off with Consulting having to play twice due to fixtures problems, with Rockets unable to field a team and Bunker unable to play an earlier game. Soul Cal were on the end of a heavy defeat to give Wear Consulting a strong start.

Wear Consulting 6 Redhouse Storm 0.
Storm were the second victims, as Wear ran up six goals and headed the pack.

Sassco take the final league competition.
Tuesday, 15 February 2011 21:21

Brave Rockets defeated by two Grant Foster goals.

With Fusion, the obvious favourites, arrogantly failing to pay off their outstanding fines, they were unceremoniously ejected from the League and gave the opportunity for four like minded teams in Sassco, Soul Cal, Rockets and Impact to play-off for the Championship. With so many games awarded, the Play-off was the only fair way of deciding the outcome.

The final league table saw Sassco head the pack, due to to back-to-back wins in their final two games, followed by Rockets, Downhill and Soul Cal.

Paul McConville, David Simpson, Stephen Lewis, Steve Anderson, Chris Simpson, Grant Foster and Davinder Sangha.

Play-off | Sassco.co.uk 6 Soul Cal 3.
Sassco and Soul Cal had differing sides, with Soul Cal suffering more without Brian Marley and Jimmy Rasper. However, Sassco were without the influential Steve "Teeb" Farrer, and the tactical genius, Davinder Sangha, who hobbled around last week after stepping on a youngster's foot. But they did call on Paul McConville, Chris Simpson, along with Stephen Lewis and Steve Anderson.

Sassco took the lead, but were pegged back by Soul Cal. Further goals put Sassco ahead and an eventual 6-3 score made it comfortable.

Play-off | Redhouse Rockets 5 Downhill Impact 3.
Rockets came back three times to take the game to Impact and eventually triumph 5-3. Impact had a very strong side out, including Scott Johnstone and the returning Campbell. Even Callum looked half decent despite the worry of changing nappies for the next three years. Rockets scored some excellent goals as Impact ran out of steam.

Final | Sassco.co.uk 5 Redhouse Rockets 2.
The stiffening Sassco team were put under the sword by a young, and now rampant, Rockets team. An early goal saw Sassco suffering and they were lucky not to concede again. Grant Foster rifled home the equaliser again the run of play as he somehow gained a second wind after being banned for so long that the last time he played, Labour were in power.

Sassco then went 2-1 ahead and were coasting with around five minutes remaining, when Rockets were awarded a free-kick. Sassco assembled a wall which had more gaps than Wayne Greenwell's teeth and it was 2-2. Rockets were on top, so Sassco got aggressive and eventually Grant Foster pulled Sassco out of the mire to put them 3-2 ahead. Eventually the score was 5-2 and Sassco were awarded the trophy in the last ever Sassco 6-a-side League - a league which has been running since 1999.

It remains to be seen if there will be a Season 17...
